Didsbury Toc H 3s vs Lymm 3s

After a few hard weeks playing the top teams in the new league, Toc H 3s needed to dig deep and go back to the form that had them 2nd in the league only a month ago.

With a few players missing due to half term, it was great to have Joe Arthur back playing and a trio of new faces turn up after hearing great things about Toc H.

Toc started off well, keeping Lymm out with a strong defence for the first 10mins. Then through good kicking from Stu Campbell and Dan Dunn, we pushed Lymm back into their half. Then Dan Dunn playing out of position as scrum half chipped the ball over the top, for Rob Eatough to chase down and score in the far corner.

This was then followed by 20mins of intense pressure from Toc which led to 2 disallowed tries, before Fergus burst through the middle of ruck 10m out to take the defenders by surprise and score.

In the 2nd half we made a few changes bringing on three new students. Oli and Greg in the pack and Paul in the centres (after switched codes). These changes, a few wild passes and bad handling in wet conditions, lead to a bad awkward start in the 2nd half. 25mins of hard defence unfortunately led to Lymm scoring in the far corner. Toc then striked back with some great short runs from the pack especially Oli and Dale, before getting the ball out to Richie Bray to score his second.

The game finished 17-5, with the 3s playing some of their best rugby of the season and being near impregnable in defence. Special mention to Paul Petrie for his runs in through the opposition centres and Sam wilding and Will Leggat for their try saving tackles.

Great work boys. We’re back to Anselmians 2s next week, with a point to prove after losing to them in the cup 3weeks ago. Highlight video to follow.
