U13s Lancashire Cup Knockout QF Success

A confident and comprehensive win in the Quarter Final of the Lancashire Cup.

Toc H started brightly with an early try outstripping them wide and touching down under the posts by Max C, perhaps slight fortunate on the the touchdown with a casual placement but the ref gave it! Leo B-P slotted the conversion for an early lead.

A case of deja vu with the second, Max C touchning down again under the posts, safely converted by Jamie H. Two converted tries in 5 mins the result of some good forward play, before shipping quickly through the hands out wide, and pace winning the day on the left wing.

A third try followed on 9 minutes this time Jamie H scoring down the right wing with some fine pace on show, but a corner finish left a difficult conversion attempt.

Toc H were playing good rugby, being positive in attack and solid defensively with strong tackling, good rucking and a scrum rarely in reverse.

The first conceded try was it must be said a beauty, Liverpool spotting a lack of numbers out wide from Toc H and floating a kick perfectly into the corner for the winger to gather and touch down. Heads up rugby or a training ground special it was a great bit of play!

Toc H kept up the hard yards and defensive effort, Ollie rocking them back with a huge tackle which summed up the team's commitment overall and then soon after scoring a try under the post for Jamie H to convert.

A really solid first half from Toc H putting us in a commanding position. The bench emptied we started the second half in much the same way picking up another early try, Toc H's very own version of Billy Vunipola Max C taking tacklers with him and scoring his third in the corner.

There followed a period of well contested play, both sides giving their all, some positional changes tried out but we soon had the subs returning to play and our regular scrum half back at the base of the forward effort.

Toc H and Max C scoring again was the end product of excellent team play.

There was a period of good defensive work in our 22 which ended with a Chris Ashton like break out try from Ollie J taking it from near our own try line to under the post for Tom R to slot the conversion.

Max C finished off our effort with a fifth try, MOTM like Billy the day before! Though it was Max C's day as far as the score sheet went, it really was a team effort putting the lads in the right position to finish; the end product of good skills and driving runs by all in the middle of the field.

Well done Toc H, loooking forward to our Semi Final in a few weeks.

Referee Notes; well done to Tim (Barnsey) Nash on his first outing, controversial on the first try (maybe the shades didn't help) but overall an excellent display to match Jim's efforts.
