Toc Triumph in Didsbury Derby

The newly formed Toc H / Broughton Park team looked forward to this local clash which hasn't ben played for a few years. The team has developed well in the past few months and after a hard fought battle with Sale last week showing their progress since forming and a good victory over Dukinfield hopes were high. With many of the lads knowing players from the opposition this was going to be a hard fought game.

From the outset it was clear that the passion was high. A scorching start for Toc with Ed swerving through and scoring after 1 minute. The reply from Bedians was quick and the impressive and speedy winger running in a try to make it 1-1. The Toc scrum performed well early on giving a platform for Ed to score his second. Toc kept their shape and there was impressive passing along the backs to the wings with Nathan and Max F providing a threat out wide. A few quick tries followed, the first from Nathan in the left wing and then a great pass out of the tackle from Nathan B-J to Fin Lowe to score in the same corner. 4-1 to Toc. Straight form the kick off a searing run down the right from Sam led to Sam scoring, but then the try being disallowed for not grounding the ball. His disappointment was short lived as he scored quickly after. One more try before half time from Nathan B-J to make it 6-1 at the break. A hard fought first half, with Toc gaining momentum as it went on combined with good defence holding Bedians to the single try.

The second half bought some substitutions. Max A scored a quick try in the right corner and then a second in the left after a solid scrum and teasing pass from Chris S. Mo and Seb kept the forward momentum going in the pack, providing a good base for the backs. An interception by Fin Locke led to a 40 yard run, only to be caught by the Bedians flyer. Good recycling though led to the ball being switched and a try by Sam. 9-1. Ronan came on at number 8 to provide some direction to the forwards and in the last few minutes there were two more tries after another from Bedians. The last in particular coming from a catch by Fin Lowe, passing onto Ed and finished by Josh. 11-2.

A good win from the team. Clear to see real development since the formation of the two teams and along with some great camaraderie, real progress in the play. Well done boys and a big thanks to the coaches.
