Easter Newsletter.

As you probably now know, unfortunately due to the current epidemic, the RFU has decided to call and end to the 2019/20 Season, so i thought I would share some words from the 1st XV VC Josh Vize on the season we have had up to now.
The 1s season has also now officially ended with us securing 2nd place. As disappointing as the situation is which brings an end to an enjoyable period of rugby, everyone involved with the team this year should be very happy with what we’ve achieved.
Our aim at the start of the season was to push on in this league and better our position from last year which we have done. Our key goal for the season was to concentrate on winning a cup, which we were on route to doing if it wasn’t for the current situation.
Defensively we’ve adapted well to a new system brought in by Sean who has been a great addition to the coaching set up this season. There have been periods of the season when we have been stunted a little in attack, however we have rejuvenated this in our last few games, scoring 134 points in our last 3 matches.
Regarding the 2s and 3s, I’d like to say a massive thanks to Conor and Dave and to everyone who has been involved with either team throughout the season.
The 2s and 3s finished 4th and 5th in their respective leagues which is a great achievement this year considering there have been times when we’ve really struggled for numbers.
The 2s league position is the highest they have finished in over 10 years which is a great result.
The 3s have performed well in a tough league and to make it better, they have finished above Old Bedians which will keep them shut up for a while.
Congratulations also to the Ladies who have had a hard season this year. They have struggled to get out a consistent team due to injuries and players moving away, but still managed to finish 6th in the Women’s Championship North 2 League. Thanks to their coach Oli and support from Ladies Rugby in general. Hopefully they can build on this again next season.
Keep fit and active and hopefully we can get back to some sort of group activities once the locked down has finished (i.e. Didsbury Rules).
Well done everyone.
