Sale Sharks back our 'Buy a Brick' campaign

Sale Sharks back our 'Buy a Brick' campaign

Jon Walker8 Oct 2012 - 11:53

Sale Sharks are supporting Didsbury Playing Fields Association (DPFA) on Ford Lane, the home of both Didsbury Toc H RFC and Burnage Metro FC for their ‘Buy a Brick’ appeal.

Sharks have joined the club members, local businesses and community members who have so far already donated almost £3000 to support this fundraiser. Each brick is personalised and will take pride of place in the clubhouse.

The appeal is part of a major fundraising drive by DPFA, which is in the Mersey Floodplain, to defend club facilities against flooding. The project focuses on a new Changing Block allowing it, for the first time, to be used simultaneously by men, women and juniors. The second phase of the project is to protect the clubhouse by raising most of the newly refurbished facilities to the first floor, above the likely flood level.

In addition to rugby union and football, cricket will be introduced to the ground from summer 2014 and this is with the cooperation of cricket local clubs who need extra playing facilities.
The major project funding has come from the Football Federation, the England & Wales Cricket Board, the Rugby Football Union (which has been coordinated by Manchester City Council) in addition to compensation from the Environment Agency. More money is still needed for this project which will deliver a fantastic multi sports facility for the whole community in the heart of Didsbury.

Please support your community by helping to develop this much needed facility. Anybody can Buy a Brick and full details can be obtained from Clare Henderson: Clare.L.Henderson@gmail.com
