A Great Start for the Colts

Andy Harrison

After a rocky summer training, The Colts come Good

After a rough summer where numbers were causing concern The Colts turned out a full team ready to compete.
Unfortunately Oldham turned up with 10 players. So the game was played with reduced numbers.

The colts started well and some good recycling of the ball gave them the edge some excellent play between Zeke at Scrum Half and Angus at Fly half resulted with Angus making a break through and scoring an excellent try which was ably converted by new kicker Iise.
Although Didsbury had the upper hand some slack tackling let a very committed Oldham in for an equalising converted try.
Didsbury reacted to this with some great team work Paul using his size and pace and Mohammed missing out twice when he decided to cut inside rather than using his pace to run for the corner. The hard work culminated with an excellent team try, the support play and awareness was brilliant the ball was finally touched down by Josh F who was playing out of position at centre.
This was followed by some excellent forward play with Ben Fenton Kadeem Josh H and new hooker Scott, and when Iise was held up millimeters from the line Matt was there to finish things off claiming the try.
The team started to show their dominance and although Oldham defended hard Josh F made a superb break running in the 4th try which was again converted by Iise.
In the second half Didsbury took advantage of having 4 subs and Oldham although working hard began to allow Didsbury to use their overlaps. Yusuf used some excellent pace to run in the 5th try again converted by Iise.
The crowd were excellent and a very popular Dan Dunn rose to the occasion running in the 6th try, to the crowds delight.
This was followed by another try for the newcomer Yusuf again converted by Iise who's practice had definitely shown results.
The game was closed by a brilliant backs try run in by Josh F who gave the try to Zeke who had been everywhere throughout the game and deserved his score, Angus stepped up to finish the game with a great drop kick conversion.

man of the match were Angus Reid and Josh Fox who both excelled.

A great result the team enjoyed the day, all credit to Oldham who were at a disadvantage from the start and kept competing to the end.

A big thanks to all the supporters who turned out, this gave the lads an extra boost.
