Didsbury’s early pressure ended with Euan Wilder kicking a penalty to open the scoring.
The first try saw good lineout ball fed to Dave Hoare who scored under the posts with the conversion making it 10-0.
Didsbury were now dominating play and recorded a second converted try when flanker Dave Foster drove over from close range.
Southport then began to enjoy more of the play and a missed tackle resulted in a try under the post which brought the scores back to 17-7.
Didsbury’s centre pairing of Andy Popoola and Ashley Chivers were in domineering form, stopping a number of Southport’s attacks.
Popoola was rewarded for his defensive efforts with a try after he broke several tackles to fight his way to the line.
Although Wilder missed the conversion, Toc H had built a decent lead of 15 points with the score 22-7 in their favour.
With half-time approaching Didsbury were able to score their fourth try of the match when a fine break set up Sean Bishop who just managed to touch the ball down to give them a 27-7 advantage.
Southport were not for rolling over though and they opened the scoring in the second half.
They bombarded the Didsbury line and were held up over the line on several occasions before scoring their second try out wide.
Nevertheless, Toc H struck back with Popoola’s second try and wrapped up the win when James Southall touched down.
Toc H now switch their attention to Saturday’s promotion play-off match with Cumbria League side Millom at Ford Lane, kick-off 3pm.
