Didsbury blew their visitors away from the first whistle, and quick recycling of the ball lead to an early try by Hoare in the corner. Hoare further demonstrated why he’s the top try scorer in the league by adding a further two tries before half time to complete his hat trick. Didsbury scored at regular intervals in the first half, with tries from Davies (2) and impressive young fly-half Euan Wilder (1). The convincing half time score of 34-0 was well deserved by Didsbury’s efforts.
Due to a mixture of the impressive lead, numerous injuries and substitutions, Didsbury’s second half performance dropped. Davies completed his hat trick with a well taken try, adding the conversion himself. With the game meandering to a conclusion Garstang finally troubled the scorers with a converted try. With the final play of the game Didsbury scored their eighth try of the match. Replacement flanker Aidan Murphy cleverly chipped over the defence and won the footrace to touchdown.
The final score of 46-7 looks impressive on paper, but Didsbury only stretched themselves for about forty minutes of the entire match. Notable performances were Hoare and Davies for the superb finishing and the tireless, unrewarding, work by winger Chris Harley.
Next Saturday Didsbury make the short journey to Old Bedians, 3pm kick off.
