Didsbury travelled away to Garstang in the league. In similar fashion to last week didsbury started very well. It took just 10m minutes for didsbury to open the scoring. Vetran flyhalf Neil Wilkinson brought full back Mike Moran into the attacking line which enabled the overlap when passed to winger Pete Davies who scored in the corner. The forards continued to battle well against a big heavy pack by constently moving them about the park. Good tackling from Dave Foster & Gareth Price stopped the Garstang attacking opportunities.
A quick tap following a mark in the 22 enabled Prop Steve McDonough to break free and feed Davies who chipped the fullback, being late tackled in the process. Good support work from Moran allowed the ball to be shipped out to Winger Dave Hoare who scored in the corner.
Good forward pressure and strong running from Phil Cooper enabled quick ruck ball to be shipped out to Davies to beat 2 defenders on the outside to secure his second try of the day.A good pre planned backs move finished with Hoare breaking 2 tackles and scoreing in the corner.
Garstang got started well in the scond half and pinned didsbury in there own 22 for the 1st 20mins, however great defense from didsbury weathered the storm. Late in the second half having made their allowed substitutions disdsbury were reduced to 13 men with almost simultaneous ankle injuries to both Swan & Walker in the pack. Centre Dylan Williams moved into pack to mittigate the advantage. With only minutes left on the clock Garstang were awarded a scrum close to Didsbury’s line which enabled them to exploit their numbers and send the winger over in the corner.
