A disappointing final result heading into Christmas. Toc were well beaten by a very well drilled and aggressive Wilmslow side who rightfully maintain their position at the top of the table heading into the new year.
On reflection, we didn’t play our rugby and that showed on the pitch. In the first half, all the intent and aggression came from the home side, and despite a solid, unyielding defence at times, Wilmslow managed to power their way over the try line on a number of occasions.
At half time the team said to themselves, let’s play our way and not worry about trying to match them. This was probably the tactic to go with from the start as we were much better second half and ran in a couple of well worked tries.
There are positives to take from the game. The lads never gave up and fought right to the end. There were lessons learned and the team knows that to challenge for this league they need to adapt to what’s in front of them and show intent, aggression and accuracy in everything they do, both sides of the ball.
The boys have earned a well deserved rest over the break and will come back fit and firing to kick on in the new year with the first fixture of 2026 at home against Trafford MV on January 10th.
Thank you to all the supporters who came down and cheered the boys on.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from everyone at Didsbury Toc H.
