Didsbury had been accused of not starting games well, but this was certainly not the case on Saturday. The Ford Lane team fired straight out of the blocks and soon had their opposition stretched all over the park. The first try soon came, with winger Dave Hoare diving in at the corner after a great Pete Davies run. This was the first of three tries on the day for Hoare, securing his second hat trick in two games. The pressure was never let up on the visitors in the first half and Birchfield never strung together more than two phases of possession.. Good ball won by the impressive home forwards, was used superbly by the equally impressive backline. The energetic looking Phil Cooper and flanker Dave Foster were notable in their contributions in the pack, whilst out wide veteran centre Dylan Williams showed an exhibition of delightful handling to set up numerous scores. As well as Hoare’s hat trick, fullback Pete Davies also scored three tries and not to be outdone winger Sean Bishop grabbed a brace of tries. The other scorers were: Steve McDonough (1 try), Euan Wilder (2 tries + 5 conversions), and Dylan Williams (1 try).
All eighteen players to play for Didsbury on Saturday played well and contributed to Didsbury now scoring over 250 points in the last four games, and more remarkably only conceding 31 points. Next week Didsbury face a tricky visit to Ashton under Lyne.
