Toc H had to take to the field without skipper Mike Hyde, missing due to a broken hand, so fellow front row Steve McDonough lead the side out. The home side were also missing winger Sean Bishop, but welcomed back Chris Harley in his place.
The game was played in marvellous conditions, and Didsbury had an equally marvellous start scoring after only a couple of minutes. Well won ball by the home pack was spread wide to winger Dave Hoare, who raced in for the try and Didsbury looked in determined fashion from the outset. Garstang were shell-shocked as the home side began to run riot and raced to a half time lead of 41-0.
Garstang were comfortably mid-table before the game and hadn’t lost any game by more than twenty points, but the way Didsbury were offloading and recycling quick ball the visitors didn’t know how to cope with the onslaught.
The second half saw no let up by Didsbury and tries were being scored at regular intervals. Toc H looked particularly adept at receiving kick offs, with hard return runs by Phil Cooper and Andy Swann sending Garstang right back onto the back foot. Didsbury managed 13 tries in all, with 10 different try scorers: Dave Foster, Cooper (2), Euan Wilder, Hoare (2), Dylan Williams, Andy Popoola, Harley (2), Pete Davies, Aidan Murphy & James Southall.
A fantastic team performance and the coaching team will be particularly pleased with the clean sheet. Didsbury climbed to second in the league and have now scored 460 points in the nine league games, they also have conceded the fewest points in the league.
Toc H will hope to continue their rich vein of form when they visit Trafford MV, currently third, next Saturday.
