Ashton Under Lyne 2’s v Didsbury Toc H 4’s: 12 – 46
Following a crushing 114 – 7 defeat to Broughton Park 4’s the week before Didsbury Toc H 4’s travelled to Ashton Under Lyne with high spirits. Ashton, plagued by injuries and players being moved up to help the 1’s, found themselves short of numbers. Throughout the game several Toc players, including Kazz Singh and Leigh Ware, stepped up to boost Ashton’s numbers; showing the selfless commitment that makes Toc players stand out amongst the crowd.
The game got off to a lighting start with a try being run in within the first 10 minutes, a feat which would prove to set the pace for the rest of the game. The rest of the game saw some impressive tries being run in by Toc off the back of some impressive play.
Despite several injures, and a severe lack of players, Ashton hung on and proved to be a worthy opposition by running in two tries notwithstanding their heavy handicaps.
Standout players for Toc this weekend include Zeke Maguire who played made his debut for the seniors coming on in the second half at Scrum Half, Leigh Ware who made a big impact at Flanker for both Toc and Ashton.
Overall Ashton proved a worthy opposition however they could do nothing hold back Toc this weekend; allowing the 4’s to place themselves in join 2nd place in the league on points.
