A bad first half but 2nd half TocH pulled it together to draw the second half 5-5

A fantastic day for Rugby and the squad turned up at Widnes in good spirits. The match started well with TocH keeping possesion, one missed pass and careless knock on and Widnes ran in their first try. The game continued and TocH were not able to deal with the Widnes backs taking the ball at pace and creating the overlaps, 3 more overlaps and 20 mins into the game TocH were on the back foot giving Widnes a 30-0 lead.

The second half started and TocH at last started to keep the ball in the forwards creating massive pressure and recycling the ball in an excellent rucking display. The pressure paid off when Lee (Man of The match) broke through to score a brilliant try. TocH kept the pressure on and Kadim was just held up over the line. Widnes kept their attacking backs going and managed to score once more.

Good points
Forwards Rucking, Scrummaging and Line Outs, Fenton was on fire captaining his first match.
Backs excellent communication, Ben with his strong hand offs made a lot of ground, Lee and Abubaker made some great runs, we kept our shape even under the pressure.
Well done to Paul in his first match he made a lot of try saving tackles.

Work to be done:
Backs taking the ball at pace, keeping the ball alive by being aware,
Forwards running in pairs not singles, being aware of the ball in the Mauls.

Training Thursday at WHGS and Sunday at the club.

I am excited by how much we have improved and feel if we all practice together we can easily step it up.
